Christmas is one of the most beautiful time of the year. One of my favourite parts of Christmas is the lights, the holiday ornaments and all the knick-knacks that always cheer you up. All the restaurants and pubs decorated to please the eye just adds to the Christmas cheer. Communiti is one of those restaurants that is ready for Christmas. From wreaths to beautiful red and gold ornaments, Communiti has the most beautifully decorated interiors all ready for Christmas. The spirit of Christmas is all about spending time with family, friends and loved ones, I honestly can’t think of a better place to spend Christmas and get into the Christmas spirit.
THE ADDRESS AND WHAT IS WITHIN IT:
Situated on one of the busiest and happening streets of Residency Road, Bangalore. Communiti can be easily spotted because of the catchy glowing signboard outside. Starting from the moment you spot this restaurant, you will definitely want to take some pictures of the glowing sign and some nice pictures in front of the sign. The sign has a long seat in front of it so that you can sit and stay entertained while you wait for a table. Communiti is not always crowded but a table booking is definitely recommended. Communiti, as its name suggests, has a very open, calm and friendly vibe that you can sense as soon as you step into this place. Communiti has various types of seating that makes everyone feel comfortable. They have both outdoor and indoor seating both unique in its own way. The whole vibe of this place makes you feel like you are part of something bigger than a community.
Communiti has a few different settings to make everyone comfortable. It has an outdoor seating which is complete with a beautiful piano fountain where the water flows every so slightly over the keys of the piano. It also has a few statues all around the brewery. As you enter there is a statue of three babies that seem to be lost in a moment of joy. That clearly shows the overall joy the place gives you. Through the doors, there are a few types of seating lit up by light bulbs overhead. on the first floor, they have a similar setting as the ground floor and also has sections with different dining areas. Most of the seating is mostly for large groups of people but they also have smaller more intimate areas. On the first floor, there is a section where there is a room which is mainly for the people who want to peacefully sit and read a book while they dine. There is also a smoking zone that is decorated in such an artistic manner. The smoking room has a few hundred tiny green and white fans which read “Breathe” which personally I feel is a such a fun play on idea of the room.
Communiti has a very sophisticated vibe. It has a huge screen that aires football, the music is not too loud and is a perfect place to have a conversation with light background music. Communiti is definitely a really nice place even if you have come as a family or with a group of friends or even if you are on a date. This is definately one of those places that you can take your loved one to spend some quality time with them. Communiti will definitely impress you either way. Coming to the seating of this microbrewery, Communiti has a different seating for everyone. They have long benches for a larger group of people, they have couch seating and basic patio chairs and tables outdoors. The most beautiful room they have is the reading area, which is lit up with yellow lights perfect for reading and is complete with the bright red couches and simple wooden tables. They also have a wide range of books for you to pick up and read. The second floor has small chairs and tables for smaller more intimate groups outside the reading area. They also have a very beautiful bar counter on both the floors in case you have to wait for your table and you decide to grab a drink while you wait.
Communiti has a good spread of craft brews. We tried a few craft beers including Irish Ale and the Belgian Wheat Ale. The Irish Ale was very smooth and was a pale copper colour. The Belgian wheat was comparatively sweeter than the Irish Ale and it was a nice pale yellow colour. They don’t have a lot of sweet options, so if you are looking for sweeter versions of beer this is definitely not the place for you. Although they have some rather amazing beer based cocktails which are sweeter and doesn’t give off the bitterness of the beers. I tried one of their Beer-based cocktails called Picnic Perfect which was again a pale yellow drink that is without a doubt so much sweeter than the craft beers that they brew. What catches your attention is the craft beer menu that they have, unlike most menus; the Communiti menus have details about the whole history of each of its brews. These details include the origin and how they were made in the past, how it came into the limelight and also whom its recommended for. It gives you a clear idea about what kind of brew you would like rather than taste testing each and every brew.
For appetizers, we tried a number of things. They have a really good choice of starters for both vegetarians and nonvegetarians. We started off our meal with some Homemade Nachos which to our surprise was a plate of loaded nachos with a lot of toppings. It was definitely not the average nachos that we get in every other restaurant, it felt more like a really thin pizza or a cracker topped with sour cream and mayo. Being a bit of a French fry lover, I just had to order fries of some sort. I picked up the Chilly Texan fries, which was crispy and not too spicy. The quantity of the fries was too little, other than that it was delicious. We also ordered a Fried Corn and Jalapeno Cheeseballs, which was nice and cheesy. The dish consists of six cheeseballs and came with a side of mayo. In the non-vegetarian section of the starters, we tried the Paprika BBQ Wings. The wings were served in a small black pan and were glistening with sauce all over it. The paprika sauce that was all over it gave a tinge of spice to the whole dish. We also ordered the Peri-Peri Chicken, which consisted of chunks of chicken marinated in Caribbean spices and coved with peri-peri sauce.
Other than the craft brews, this brewery also has a range of Cocktails and Mocktails. They have a fantastic Long Island Iced Tea for which they also have the option to get a whole pitcher. A pitcher can fill 5-7 glasses and is priced at Rs.955. One of their most popular Mocktails is the Communiti Lip Lock, which is a very refreshing drink that consists of a blend of watermelon chunks, strawberry crush and orange juice complete with a dash of lime. Similar to the Communiti Lip Lock, they also have a Passionfruit blended with orange juice called the Passion Delight. This drink is just as refreshing as the Communiti Lip Lock; it has wedges of lemon and mint leaves topped off with sprite to give the whole drink a perfect balance. We also tried their Kamikaze Shots, which looks and tastes beautiful. Served in a long shot glass these shots are the perfect drinks to take pictures of, they have a nice blue bottom that transitions into a green colour which further blends into a Smokey white colour. These Kamikaze shots are priced at Rs.160.
For the main course, we first decided to try out their pizza’s and pasta’s. We first ordered a Mac and Cheese Florentine pasta which came with a piece of garlic bread. The macaroni served was cooked just right and was served in a thick pool of cheese sauces along with some baked corn and spinach. The sauce was nice and creamy that we were whipping the plate clean with the garlic bread. We also ordered the Farm House Pizza, which is a thin crust pizza loaded with bell peppers, fried mushrooms, basil leaves and some mozzarella cheese all over. We also ordered a Tenderloin Steak Sizzler, which was served with mashed potatoes and stirr fried vegetables. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were placed inside a cabbage leaf and looked very artistic. The sizzler also came with a piece of garlic bread and a fried rice element. The steak had sweet and spicy sauce poured all over it that added to the flavour of the dish. We also ordered a Beef Lasagna, which also came with a piece of garlic bread. The lasagna consisted of thyme flavour minced beef with a tomato cheese sauce.
Communiti is definitely one of those places which I would recommend. It has valet parking so you will never have to worry about parking on the busy roads of Brigade. The Ambiance of this place will definitely make you feel like staying at the restaurant longer. If you are a football fan and want to enjoy the match while enjoying a drink with your buddies, this is without a doubt a place you will love. Communiti is also easy on the pocket given the ambiance of the place. If you have friends or family flying down from other cities, countries or even if you have come to visit Bangalore, Communiti is a definite must try. In my opinion, festive times like Christmas is one of the best times you can visit this Brewery. The whole décor of this place will make sure you have a merry Christmas.
